OK, the brake fluid saga gets better.....

The 32 year old brake fluid PH was 6.0. The new brake fluid in the container is 5.0.

So the old fluid was less acidic than the new stuff!

If the local shop knows nothing about the BEM battery code and doesn't have a VCDS type scanner I would walk away very quickly. Call the Audi dealer and ask what is the total cost of a battery...

Can't do that in the US (environmental laws do not allow to vent to atmosphere), the service system reclaims the old Freon, filters contaminates and moisture. It's as good as fresh/new Freon.
