1999 Audi A6 Transmission

I need to replace the transmission on a 1999 Audi A6 Quattro. There are two different transmission codes on the market: DPT and EKX. Mine is a DPT. However, there are not many available around, yet there are a couple of the EKX. Can anyone tell me if they are interchangeable; in other words, is it possible to install the one with the EKX code on my car even though it had a DPT code before? Does anybody know if there is any differences in between the two code transmissions?

Any assistance is greatly appreciatted!

i would think so, you just need the matching tcm i would think

Can you check the ECU software version of another A6 with EKX tranny?

and I am 99% certain you need a matching tcm as internals are different.

I don't really have access to another A6, so I can't check the ECU software. I am hoping somebody has done it in the past.

Exact same problem

i have the exact same situation same year same Tranny code and want to use a EKX Tranny did you find if they switch and if any thing needs to b swapped?
