EPROM reprogramming
Ok, i know it's a lot easier in the long run, and much cheaper on the time/money scale. but i'm a hands on kinda guy. and i don't like the idea of just slapping a beter ecu onto my car (too easy, what the hell's the fun in that) so i would really like to know how to reprogram my own (plus i have a bunch of extra ecu's and they'd probably be worth selling if i chipped em) i have access to a few EPROM flashers and decent tecnical knowhow. has anyone done this? is there software out there i can use? or is there a decent web site out there?

Re: EPROM reprogramming
Burning code is just that. Get the code. Burn the chip. Install the chip. Done. You need to have the code or know how to read the original and make adjustments. There are sources out there for samples of code tweaks. then, you need to know how to burn your chips. Once burned and double checked for errors you just need to install it. C'est ca. Depends how much you want to tweak. Can you tweak the CIS for the extra fuel? that's better time spent for juicing up your ride.

It can be done.. it is however alot of work. There are numerous posts on here where we have discussed it. I know me and boxer have been working on it alot. If you just want to toss code on a chip and install it you need to know what ecu's you have and do as boxer said. if you have mac-11's the code is availible online everywhere. mac-14's are another story, code isnt readily availible. tho I am working on code for the 14.

That's entirely your call...
Personally, I couldn't justify MS on a car this old when a some CIS tweaking and a chip can substantially improve the cars performance.
How good are you with code?
