My first "real" encounter with a supercharged B6 3.0. Many thanks to Skeeball for meeting up today.
I have been looking forward to meeting Skeeball and seeing his supercharged B6 A4 3.0 for close to a year, here is a quick recap from this afternoon's mini GTG at Boston's Fish Pier. Four Audis total met up, three B6 3.0's (myself, Skellball and SilverB6) plus one '00 Silver B5 S4 (I can't remember the driver's name but he was a very cool guy).
What a sleeper Skeeball's 3.0 is. Outside of the Ultrasport front and rear bumpers the only thing that tells you his A4 is serious are the georgous OZ Forgiata rims. Under the hood is a totally different story. The G3 supercharger setup is definately an eye catcher and even more so once you drop the hammer and let the blower stuff gobs of air into the 3.0's engine.
(For those of you that haven't seen one, here is what a G3 set up looks like, although this is not a pic of Skeeball's engine bay.)

After checking out Skeeball's ride for a while the fun and interesting part of the GTG to place... a ride in the beast. Just as Skeeball, Silver B6 and myself loaded up in skeeball's 3.0 a silver B5 S4 showed up at the pier with an interest in joining us for the ride so we stopped and let him in. Now for those of you who know or don't know the Fish Pier it is a fairly long pier with a road down the middle flanked on each side by long buildings. Skeeball rolled slowly as first and then jammed it. Man to hear that Eaton blower whine is awesome. The car launched well and just wants to move fast.
The lot was fairly empty with a few cars parked so stepping on it was not a big deal.... except for the MBTA cop who just happened to walking along the lot. Man was he pissed. Thankfully he was only an MBTA cop and not a Boston cop or statie. He let us off with a stern warning and we rolled out of the lot going 20mph. Needless to say that near miss kinda put a damper on things and we keep the rest of the ride a few launches at stop lights to moderate speeds. I will tell you though that the boost and torque of the G3 seems almost instantaneous. Much quicker off the line than the stock B6 S4's that I have driven or KO4'd 1.8T's that I have ridden in. I would have loved to had a longer drive but skeeball and his very nice and patient wife, who we left back at the pier to feed the seaguls, needed to get on the road back to Maryland.
After skeeball left the three remaining took a ride in the revo chipped B5 S4. Definately a great engine. It was my first ride in a B5 S4 and it was very nice but not like the supercharged 3.0 at all. I can't imagine what a Stage 3 B5 S4 is like. Must be completely insane.
Thanks again everyone for meeting up. Skeeball, it was a joy to meet you in person finally. Keep me posted on how the troubleshooting of the variable idle goes.
Here are a few pics from the afternoon.

"I can't imagine what a Stage 3 B5 S4 is...insane" That pretty much sums it up...
You need to get a ride in one - absolutely mind-boggling one of the first few times you get in one...instant smiles. Just when you've thought the boost has hit and you butt has found its firm place in the seat, the K04s' let your *** explore new crevices in the leather.

A friend of mine has Stage 3+ B5 S4 and it's a world of difference between
that than my sc'd 3.0. Once those K04s spool its almost scary. But I love my car and it's plenty fast enough for normal driving.

Imagine the rush w/ no passengers on the on-ramp of an expressway :-)))
I'm suprised he's still having idle problems.<ul><li><a href="http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a63/rasta4/videos/?action=view&current=77b25816.flv">Freeway on-ramp</a></li></ul>
