Audi 4.2 FSI self study guide
Given the 4.0T thread, here is the old self study guide link for the 4.2. This one goes back to the FSI intro with the prior generatiion A6, but was the only time I think Audi published the dedicated SSP for the motor.

Again, no for 4.2 AFAIK. Usually Audi (or VW) only do an SSP for a motor when something fundamentally changes--moving to chains from timing belt. 2V's to 4V/5V back when it happened, variable valve timing when it happened, etc. Last big change on 4.2 was really in the D3 and C6 era when FSI direct injection was introduced and variable valve timing further enhanced. Said another way, they do not do it for every motor with every model change, or even close to it. Only when a new model gets introduced with a new motor or a new tranny do they usually do a new SSP. Makes sense, since their real purpose is to train the service techs on the big picture on new things they will see in newer vehicles coming in for service.
If you are looking for a shop manual, that's different. For D4 that is probably mostly alldatadiy.com for sort of ok/not great, or a download via subscription of the Audi ErWin service materials. Search if you want more info/contect there.

You access and download it online, buying a license for access/download. Many buy a single day license (since very expensive on an ongoing basis) and download huge amounts of stuff. The key--implied by the name is it is Windows only--forget Mac's unless using a VM, no typical tablets, phones, etc. Search if more info needed.
If that is too arcane, there are some suppliers (typically in UK--again search) who will do a prepackaged download of the factory documentation against your VIN--a complete manual at the dealer service level of detail applicable to your car. It runs many thousands of total pages in a pdf form.
And no, just in case some might think so, AFAIK none of this is find some quiet link/download somewhere "for free."
