Default Cabin Noise

Lots of reviews are saying the cabin of the new q7 is a wonderful place to be in, can anyone here draw any comparisons to the cars you've previously owned?

It's the quietest vehicle I've ever owned.

Agreed as well. Honestly, no comparison.

Lookout / discogone - glad to hear this, but does your assessment include the AC recirculation noise issue discussed in other threads?

The 4M Q7 is the quietest car I've ever owned.

It's so quiet that I can hear small noises inside the car more, like my kid grinding his teeth when he's sleeping in the car seat, and the air turbulence from the HVAC vents.

It's even quieter than the A8L 4.0T that I frequently get as a service loaner... but I'm sure that will change once Audi releases the next gen A8 which will also be based on the Q7's MLB Evo platform.

A couple of week after getting the Q7, we went to dinner in my wife's Sienna one night. As I drove on the road, I instinctively pulled on the controls to close the windows. After doing that for a while, I realized that the windows were never open. It was just that I had gotten so used to the quietness of my Q7 that the sound in a regular car feels like driving with the windows open.

Nope. I do want to point out that since my Q7 is so quiet, I can hear some other noises that you normally don't hear in other cars:

1. The sunroof - when the car hit big bumps, there is a rattle from the passenger side.
2. Wind noise - mostly on highway, there is a whistling wind noise from driver side window when the speed is above 40 mph. Even louder with higher speed.

Again, if the Q7 was not quiet, I probably would not hear these noises.

I just traded in 2005 Lexus LX470/Land Cruiser and got 2013 Audi Q7 with premium plus package.
Q7 cabin noise is awful compared to LX470. I dialed in a meeting using MMI and folks asked me if I was flying a plane!
I am not able to get past the cabin noise to enjoy any of the Q7 features - including Bose sound system......
The car has Bridgestone tyres. I can even hear rotors grinding with break pads. The noise is there from 20 mph to 95 mph.....
Any suggestions??? If your Q7 is quiet, there is something wrong with mine!

Welcome but you are in the wrong Q7 forum, the new generation Q7's (2016-2019) are very quiet inside, when I talk to people on the phone while driving my Q7 people think I'm home.
