Default New Q7 as a Loaner

Hey guys,

My TDI is in for a check engine light for low fuel pressure and the side curtain airbag recall. I wanted a new A4 as a loaner but ended up with a new Q7. Seems to be a premium 2.0.

I must say it is VERY nice. Handles well and rides very smooth. Very spacious in the back, except the third row. Even the 2.0t feels much better than the one we got in the Q5. I'm sure the 3.0t would be the better motor as this one feels anemic at times.

Imagine we could get it with a 3.0 TDI? That would be REALLY nice!!

It's weird, but I had a new Q7 loaner yesterday, too. It was equipped with the 3.0T which I don't believe I've ever driven before. This generation of Q7 is MUCH nicer than previous gen loaners we've had in the past. The vehicle is more nimble and doesn't seem so over-weight. Very quiet, very smooth. Engine seemed to have good poke, but I don't know that you'd win many drag races with it. Regardless, VERY nice overall (for an SUV).

They gave me four choices yesterday: Q7, A6, A4 or A3.

Ohhh, BTW, Coolie, I had the new A4 a few weeks ago. I REALLY like that. Showing a lot of refinement in every aspect. I'd recommend driving that one - - I suspect you'll enjoy it.

I had A4 loaner as well during my last service.
DAT gear shifter thou - I'm used to resting my hand on it, so had some issues with that joystick switch. No doubt would eventually get used to it - but it was kinda annoying during my drive at that day.

I also had an A4 loaner recently. The refinement was very impressive. The car had virtual cockpit. I thought the 2.0 was a little wimpy for my taste, downshifting a lot as a result.

OP, you might find a used Q7TDI or just possibly an unsold 2016 that was held by the VWAG Stop Sale order but you can no longer buy a new TDI in any car.

AFAIK they never sold them in the USA. Dieselgate broke in 2015 right before the TDI model was supposed to debut in the Q7.

OP is talking about the desire for a TDI Q7 MkII (2017+).
