Default DIY Pollen Filter replacement?

Going for the first oil change. The deal wants $115 for the part alone, plus installation time charge. I have always done these DIY but I don't know where the filter is located on this car nor how easy/hard it is to replace? Do you guys know how to replace it? Do you recommend any specific filter as a replacement?

Along the same lines, the dealer also recommended an alignment at 20k miles. I don't see any wear on the tires indicating alignment issue - my thought is that the car shouldn't need it - what do you guys think?

I know there's a cabin air filter which I'm unsure as to where it exactly is, I thought it was accessed through the glove compartment? But a pollen filter I've never heard of.

Default Cabin filter vs pollen filter

Yeah, my mechanic called it "pollen" but I think "cabin" is the more common term. My guess is under glove box access like older model Q7 but when I looked, there is a fragile looking piece of foam that I would rather not remove unless I am reasonably certain that I need to.

Anyone who knows for sure I would appreciate the help!

It is under and behind the glove box, just like on a recent A6 looks like. The foam thing cover is held in place by 3 tabs that you loosen with a screwdriver, then release. if the floor is clean it is not too bad, get your head under the glove box and use a flashlight:

After the foam thing is out, there is a plastic cover you remove, and the pollen filter is behind that. DIY about $20 with compatible filter.

Awesome! Thank you - now I just need to buy a filter that will fit. Do you know of a place to buy one that will fit or get OEM for a reasonable price (dealer wanted over $100 for the part).
this site says that their filter works but lists years from 2011 - 2017 so that makes me wonder if their info is correct.

Thanks!

The Audi part no is: 4M0819439A and the 4M is the key to indicate Gen2 Q7.

Cairid website seems to think the Hastings will fit, only $17, worth a try. The genuine Audi part runs about $32, get one of each and you'll be set for a while.

On my A6 same price difference with Hengst filter looking identical to OEM, 1/2 price, made in germany.

Hello Mesquite, You seem like an expert,

Do you know how to replace the engine Air filter? for 2.0 Q7 2018

And do you regularly change your oil for your 2.0 Q7?

I feel the car runs worlds smoother when oil is changed,

I plan on changing oil every 5000km

either at independent shop or maybe DIY

Check this thread here, the air filter box cover comes off easy, 2 clips at front, careful not to lose them, getting to the oil filter takes extra steps:

Also, there is a long thread here "DIY Oil Change".
