Default No drill front license plate

What are my options to install a front license plate without having to grill it in? I live in Washington, where front license plate is mandatory. I recently places an order for a Q5 and I am debating if I should have the front plates removed. I really do not like the tow hook option. Is there anything else I can do?

The front plate holder can always be removed and filler strips are available. Getting the front bracket does not put holes in the grille.

Thanks SYMAWD for confirming that. I had the same impression until I saw this video -
. I am good as long as there are no holes drilled in.

Can you point me to these filler strips? I'm removing the plate holder on a new SQ5.

SYMAWD is correct.

Get these: 80A-853-441-E-3Q7

Basically, when you remove the front plate holder bracket, the screws align INSIDE the trim on the SQ5 (NOT SAME pieces on Q5. It appears they have a D ver, not the E used in my SQ - see link below). You then just snap in the trim strip to cover. Easy peasy.

You don't have to replace the entire bar like I did in my 14 Q5.

You can see where I snapped in the top bar already. Literally like 45sec to clean up the front.

The link you provided do you have to buy 1 or 2? Meaning... ordering one is a set that gives both pieces? My dealer said it's cost $110 but that he'd do me a solid and get me the parts for $75+tax. If your link is for the set then that's a better price. If your link is for 1 piece then it's the same as what my dealer said ($110, $55 each)

thanks for the answer and link!

Where would you stick that on the Q5? Plus, pretty sure that won't get you out of a ticket if a cop pulled you over.
