I saw this story today, but wasn't it "already coming"? As in, I have a pending recall notice IIRC for the Q5 Hybrid, and general situation around them has been discussed for a year or so now. Didn't bother to parse story, but my sense is the message was the recall list of affected models/years was getting longer.

First group was 2009-2012 Q5s, now it also includes 2013-2017. Thus, basically all of them in the US.

I was at the Audi dealer today getting 3 recalls done (PCV replaced, heater grid coding, aux coolant pump coding) before my warranty runs out in a few days. I said add the fuel pump flange recall, they said they didn't know about the additional vehicles. They said that they only found 2 with leaking pump flanges so far, takes less than an hour to fix. Porsche Macan is on a sales hold as they don't have any parts to fix the pump flanges yet so they can't sell any new ones.

As of today, the dealer could only acknowledge "it is coming" but they can't book any work for it yet. Audi has to set terms and start shipping parts first.

FWIW.

Where is the pump flange? On the engine or on the gas tank? If it's on the gas tank, would a leak be noticed by fuel odor?

This is to get clarification on this notice. Does this affect 3.0 TDI?

While the article doesn't actually say, my guess is it's only the gas powered versions. Every mention is about gasoline, and diesel is never mentioned.

The 3.0T gasoline engine is part of this campaign, but for now the status indicates "REPAIR NOT YET AVAILABLE". Ours is going in for service in about a month. Wonder if they'll be ready to perform it by then...

You can punch in your VIN at Audi Recall Services by Vehicle Identification Number to see if yours is included in this campaign.
