There is a cargo net which fill the area behind the front seats if you wanted to carry large loads and reduce the risk of anything coming forward and injuring people in the front.

Yep, that's what it's for. I negotiated with my dealer to throw that partition in when I bought the car. I must say, I'm glad I didn't pay $600 for it. It's pretty janky. It's effectively just a piece of fabric that stretches between a post that goes in between those ceiling hooks and two tie-down hooks that attach via seat belt webbing to the cargo hooks in the floor. It's not ever really quite tight since I am afraid of breaking the hooks in the ceiling if I crank down on the straps too much and, more annoyingly, if you have anything covering the cargo hooks (like a trunk cargo mat) it doesn't work since the lower anchoring points are covered. It was a nice idea, but I definitely didn't get the use that I expected out of it.
