Default Sunroof stopped working

Hi Guys.

Anyone had experience of the sunroof failing?

Ive checked the 20amp fuse (position 6 brown holder) and all seems well.

No movement and no clicking or "trying to" noises.

Is there a relay for the sunroof?

Is is there a reset procedure like on some other audis?

Many thanks.

Default Audi Power Accessories I Technician’s Reference Guide Course Number 971802

Straight out of the Bently manual "Technician’s Reference Guide"

Audi > D2 > 1997-2003
Body Exterior
60 - Sunroof Sunroof motor zero position, adjusting
Motor is removed

Harness connectors connected

Move rotary control to "roof closed" position.

Sunroof motor runs to zero position and switches off automatically.

Install motor in this position with sunroof closed.

I have had problems with the rotary switch on my FL cars and have gotten used A4 or A6 dome light assemblies to pirate the switches out of. I do not recall which ones but it's pretty obvious. I have not had a problem with it just not working but instead having the **** break or the unexpected closing issue (which can be fixed by bending a contact IIRC).

Many thanks Joel. I suspect this isn't the issue as there is no movement at all however I'll try to test the switch with a multimeter while I'm checking for power elsewhere.

Thanks again.

Have tried opening it manually, with the supplied crank (on the fuse box cover)?

This might let you know if it is mechanically OK ...and not stuck for some reason.

Cheers

You posted in the WRONG section. This is the D2 (1994-2002) A8/S8 section.

Hi, I know this is an old tread but im having the same problem so I was wondering if you found what was at fault. Didnt want to go chasing around for a broken wire so I changed the motor, switch and relay but still it doesnt even make a sound...

Tested for resistance with a multimeter from the fuse and it had alot of it so I guess ill go digging. Was just wondering if there is a common fault where the wire snaps.

Default It was a while ago…

But I believe we found a harness disconnected by the switch in the roof. May not help much. Good luck.
