Bluetooth upgrade to an A8L
I've got a 2007 8L, it has the handset phone and I'd like to add bluetooth/handsfree.. I can't seem to find anything other than iPOD plug in adapthers.. is there a way to retrofit integrated bluetooh - if only for phone, in my ride?...

If you cannot pair your phone to the car, upgrade your MMI software to the latest revision. Had to do that to my wifes 2008 when I bought it a few months ago.
It also fixed a few other bugs like the rear sunscreen operation.

A VCDS Autoscan or an MMI Red Screen audit [see attached text file] would be very helpful for giving you guidance.
More details will help but the Euro SIM based handset ECUs can be replaced with a BT unit fairly easily ...

When I picked up my wife's 2008, it was one revision level behind. No android phone would pair with it. After I performed the software update, all of the android phones paired just fine.

I read somewhere on this forum that the handset needs to be disconnected from the cradle for the car to use bluetooth .Not sure this the case as mine was already removed when I purchased the car.

Everyone here he is looking to use bluetooth media streaming options in addition to the stock OEM bluetooth phone functionality. The only way to do so is with getting an Audi AMI unit with a bluetooth streaming dongle or tune2air similar device or a Dension unit. Search the forums for these solutions. 2008+ A8s had the AMI as standard with the bluetooth dongle as an extra option. Only some 2007's had the AMI as standard, for example my 2007 A8 W12 did not come with it.

I got the newest one with the AMI cable built in. The Ami powers it right up! I've tried many bluetooth adapters and the Tune2Air is the only one that worked.
I got it from amazon for 40 bucks, but looks like they took it off and replaced it with a different brand and raised the price. It looks really similar, you can try it and return it if it doesn't work out.
I have the Viseo WMA3000A and can confirm it works perfect.
