SQ5 Chrome Exhaust Tips - Corrosion / Carbon Buildup?
Dealer declined warranty to repair corrosion.
I've seen a few posts on this before so please pardon my rehash but I want to hear the latest and greatest remedies...
Looking to apply a non-scratch Scotchbrite pad with soapy water cut with vinegar, followed by some Simichrome polish to tighten this up. I'm afraid the chrome has already been eaten away...

Same problem. The chrome is shot. Scotchbrite won't help much.
Probably part of the reason why new SQ5 has no visible exhaust tips.
For my S6 I ended up plastidipping black to no longer deal with it there, but I have not decided what to do on the SQ5 yet. Sucks I know...sorry.

Harwich, someone was way too aggressive with the cleaning effort and removed the chrome plating.
You could look at replacing them.
I try to clean the tips weekly to stay ahead of it. They always seem to need a fair amount of attention. If the car is an oil burner, the problem is worse. I've been using the P21S Polishing Soap. Kind of a unique product and works well at this task.

Anyone try Chemical Guys Light Metal Polish on their exhaust . I've been pretty happy with their other products so I thought I'd give it a try, though I'm definitely open to other products that forum members have used with favorable results. On the other Audi Forum Blue Magic Metal Polish Cream seems to provide excellent results.
