Default Q5 aftermarket battery options?

2013 Q5 battery question - I currently have the original battery in (varta 4L0 915 105). Is there an after-market replacement that matches the 105ah ? Advance auto tells me it's this but appears to only be 70ah. Anyone aware of the battery i need to match the current 105ah? I'm aware of the coding and have an ODBeleven on the way. Thanks!

Q5, welcome aboard!

They should have an H9 AGM battery for you.

(I like Sears premium AGM batteries.)

Great, thanks for the quick response! I'll look into the Sears option.

If you buy the Advance Auto battery, sign up for a Speed Perks account and buy the battery online, select the pick up at store shipping option (battery must be in stock at that store), and use coupon code

SCW2872 to get $50 off. Good until 7/16.

Can't go wrong with a diehard.
DieHard Gold AGM Automotive Battery seems to be on sale now.

Default Sears

Yeah, that's when I bought ours. Got a great price on it during the summer.

Can we change the battery ourselves at home without causing problems?

In an ideal world, the replacement battery would be coded into the system, Enjens.

It's best to swap in a new battery BEFORE the old battery goes critical.

That's not exactly a true statement.

1. Yes, if you replaced the old battery with a new battery of the same capacity, and the old battery didn't trigger a power management shutdown of certain circuits before replacement, the new battery would carry on...........

2. The problem of not resetting the power management system when a new battery is installed is that the power management system stores how much energy has been removed from the coded battery, this same depleted energy
number will be carried over to the new battery and will at some point trigger a battery life capacity warning that is not representative of the real life of the new battery.

The easiest way to code in a new battery if you don't have a battery with the correct coding information on that label that Audi requires, is just make sure you purchase a new battery with the same capacity or higher than the old battery, using VCDS go the battery blocks and the battery serial number will be indicated, just change the last digit of the s/n by 1 number and that should suffice the power management system that there is a new correctly coded battery installed.

Bob, I've wondered about what you describe, but I've never seen it documented.

I will agree that the battery should be coded if VCDS is available.
