Default Center speaker

How do you remove the cover for the center speaker under the windshield?

if planning to remove the speaker, you will need a 5.5 mm ratchet socket

If your chasing down the rattle it's the speaker. Pretty common issues with the Bose system. There's a thread here that discusses it and gives options for speaker replacement.

Yea I do have the Bose and I saw that thread but I honestly think mine is more of the cover itself. On certain phone calls it makes a crackle / rattle noise and if I put my hand on the cover it goes away. Similar to the rear shelf (which has a folded up piece of paper wedged in like an old dodge)

I thought I had a speaker rattle -- turned out it was my HUD unit, which there's a known issue with.

Technically it's still not fixed. I've had them try and fix it twice. The 2nd time they mentioned a TSB, which really just has them add some dampening material in there.

This has helped some...but is still an issue on a rough road. With the radio volume down, it's clearly more noticeable.

I eventually figured this out (vs. thinking it was the center speaker) when a friend in the passenger seat pushed down on an edge of the reflective material inside the HUD while driving. This stopped the rattle immediately.

Sounds to me like you need an audio system upgrade to permanently resolve the problem!

but that's just me.................
