The SQ7 looks amazing - 6kW electric supercharger on top of twin-turbodiesel. Sad we don't have it in the US.

I do wonder though:

X5M is 567 HP 553 torque and 0-60 in 3.8. 5299 lbs.
¼-mile: 12.3 sec

SQ7 is 435 HP 663 torque and 0-60 in 5.1. 5250 lbs.
Standing ¼-mile: 13.6 sec

Why is the 0-60 and 1/4 mile so much worse than the X5M?

5.1 is not all that much better than the regular Q7 which is 5.5 (according to C/D) and 14.2.

As you have observed the numbers don't tell the whole story. There's so many other factors here. How many gears, what's the gear ratio, when does the top power kick in, what's the power curve, what's the turbo lag, what's the traction like, size of the contact patch, stickiness of the tires, etc... Also, there is 132HP difference between the two (regardless the torque) .....

I think the Audi is about what it should be, and the BMW is just way ahead of what it should be able to do.

What people don't really realize is that bmw's "M" cars are equivalent to audi's "RS" models. Audi's "S" models are equivalent to the bigger-engined BMW Models like the SQ7 is equivalent to the BMW X5 50i, S4 = 340i, S5 = 440i, and so on.

HP is how quickly job can be performed.
Torque is capability to perform certain job. As HP for X5M is higher, also 1/4 mile time is better.

BMW is notorious for underrating their power outputs. More power than advertised.

I told my friend that, and he said BS. That a company would never do that.

Does anyone have any actual evidence that this is true? I searched the internet, and cannot find any dyno test that shows it to be true.

But online 1/4 estimators think the X5M would need 100 more HP than it is rated to get its 12.2 time. So that is an indication that it may be true.

I just HOPE AND PRAY that they bring it to the USA! BMW....BAVARIAN MANURE WAGON.... I had a 633 CS...it was fast, and it was almost ALWAYS broken...looked very pretty sitting in the drive though.
