Default Engine oil level ...

Hi all...
I have more the 7k on my s5 and I just noticed that the car can display the engine oil’s level, which is now med-low, not minimum yet, but getting there.
I never even checked oil on my previous car (lexus), which was serviced every 5k and I had no need to worry about that.
Curious, did anyone of you did add oil yet, before the 10k service?

Sure, lot of cars need oil added.

The display in these cars represents about 1 liter of oil. It is NOT the entire capacity of the car.

...mine is about a couple of notches above min. It sounds like I’d better top it off... thank you for your kind replies.

Are you using the 0-20w oil, I believe it's green in color?

I got a Castrol 5w-30. It is listed on the manual as one of the recommended by Audi.

If the light did not come on, why are you adding oil? It is just as bad with overfill than no oil.
Bring it to an Audi dealership and they will top it off for you, assuming you are not 300 miles away.

exactly. With how close you are coming to the oil change anyway, I would just have the oil changed rather then topping off. I would also add that it is a 0W-20 full synthetic oil so the oil you have will not work in your car (I assume you have a 2018 S5). It would be worse to overfil the oil rather than being almost a quart low.

A great discussion of the new oil required for our cars can be found here https://www.audiworld.com/forums/s4-...-oils-2931481/
