Nokian winter tires vs Michelin
I知 looking for a second set of tires for winter for my Q5 2018 s line. I found a set of 19`` mags that I Iike but I m not quite sure which wheels I should get. I知 hesitating between Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 SUV 106T XL (non-studded) and Michelin x ice xi2. my daily driving is a mix between city and high way and I live in Montreal, Canada..

Nokian Tires are extremely well known especially in Europe as some of the best winter tires you can buy. That being said, both brand make world class tires. Have you checked Consumer Reports ratings?

Yeah, I pretty much agree. The Nokians may be in a class by themselves...assuming you need that level of snow performance.

Nokian Tyres are the best winter tires I've ever owned, hands down. I usually stick with the R2's, since I don't need the studs. I didn't even realize you could get the 9's without studs.

Thank you guys for sharing, I will go with Nokian tires then. I'll report back when I'll try them this winter.

I have a Q5 Q7 A6 and Ford F250
The A6 has Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 Tires
The Q5-Q7 have Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV Tires
Just bought a set of Hakkapeliitta LT2 (Studded) for my Ford F250 superduty.
I also have a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV Tires that were on my 09 Touareg TDI
I have had Michelins X2's Bridgestone Blazzak several different version on several cars.
1 set of Continental Winter Contact SI on a Subaru.
I think they are all very good in the snow, Ice and most Winter Conditions.
With that said I find the Nokian tire superior in all winter performance categories. So I have chosen Nokian tire for my last
4 purchases. Nokian invented the snow tire so I think they must know something.
All the brands mentioned above are far superior to any all season tire. The difference is night and day.
The difference between all the good quality Ice and snow tires and Nokian tires is more like the difference between dusk and night.
Good Luck

Michelin PA4 are my favorite winter tire but no sizing for SQ5 so I'm going with Pirelli Scorpion Winter again. I had them in stock 19" sizes on my 2014 SQ5 and thought they were a very good performance winter tire, nearly as good as the PA4 except ride comfort was slightly more harsh. Never had Nokians because I don't need a full blown snow tire and it seems they're all studded.
