Default 19 inch wheel on S8? (winter )

Hello,

May be someone has asked this question before, anyone tries 19inch for their D4 S8? (not ceramic) I have mine for 2 year, didn't drive it in winter, but plan to drive it this winter, while Audi suggests 20inch winter wheel/tire package, but tirerack showing 19inch wheel for S8 as well.

More specific, since more selection for 19inch wheel from S4/S5/S6 etc, if anyone tried to fit 19in from S4/5/6 into their S8? (S8 is quite rare)

Thank you.

the "Audi winter wheel and tire packages" brochure for the 2016-2017 season shows a 19" winter wheel package for S8's from 2013 on, list price is $3875. Described as 7.5j x 19 ET 29 alloys, with 235/50 R19 103H XL Dunlop SP Winter Sport tires. So it would appear Audi is OK with 19's.

Piano, do you get a lot of snow?

Tire Rack would be your starting point for checking various wheel sizes available for your car.

Always, from what i've heard, go with a smaller wheel for a winter setup. Better traction since more weight is sitting on a smaller footprint, if that makes sense. I think back when I had a BMW 750 with no AWD that I used 20s during the summer and 18s in winter. Was able to find a set of snows on craigslist for a great price with OEM rims.

I ran 19's last winter but failed to get the right sidewall height to get the diameter to match the 21's that came on mine. That meant Driver Assist stopped working, and I had to reset it when I put the 21's back on for summer. Lesson learned. So be sure to get the right 19" tire diameter and you'll be fine. They look a little "off" but they work!

yes they quit after about 150 miles of driving. And that means no cruise control at all, adaptive or not. Which for me in an S8 is almost a guaranteed speeding ticket lol. I could have had the system recalibrated for around $1k, and again when I put the 21's back on. No thanks!

That's no bueno. Staying within 3% of the original wheel/tire height will eleviate the issue as you probably know.

Default Photos?

Does anyone have a photo of their S8 with 19” rims (for snow)? I’m considering this for next winter / pothole season in MI.
