Default Front sensors does not automatically engage

I noticed that my Q7's front sensors do not turn on unless I hit the "Parking sensor" button while I am parking. e.g. I drive to Wal-mart and park in a lot where there is a car in front of me. With other audis, when you drive slow enough, such as trying to park, the sensors will automatically pickup anything in front. Is there a setting in MMI to change this?

Based on a similar discussion here, looks like it won't engage automatically. I don't have my Q yet, so can't tell you based on my experience.

I don't believe so. When I drive slow enough (<3mph) and IF there is anything in the front (garage wall/ other cars in parking lot), the front sensors are automatically engaged.

It was discussed a while back that the auto on for the front sensors was apparently not implemented until around July or Aug 17 builds. Mine was built in April so the front sensors will not auto engage. Every loaner I have had built after that has had them. Still not clear if it’s something that can be turned on through software or if different sensors are needed. I seem to recall something being discussed about the latter.

Awesome. I'll talk to my local Audi dealer to see if I can get the software update done.

Good luck with that - unless you have a VERY friendly service guy with connections at Audi beyond the normal.
You can activate the front sensors (just the beeping - no camera) with OBDEleven. Did it to my early build 2017.

You can activate that via OBD11 coding if dealer is unwilling to do so.

Guys, mine is a March 2017 build and the front sensors (only, not the camera) activate every time I pull into a parking space or into my garage (as it detects the entry wall)

Yes, I think the actual update was August of 2016, not 2017. My June 2016 build didn’t have this feature but it was easily programmed with VCDS.

Strange, mine was May 2016 build and was enabled by default.
