A5 sales up 252% MTD...
Audi of America reported an October sales increase of 9.6 percent to 19,425 deliveries, as the Q7, new Q5, and the new-to-the U.S. A5 Sportback, drove consumer demand.
October was the 82nd straight record sales month for Audi of America. The previous October record was set last year with 17,721 deliveries. Audi has now sold 180,339 vehicles in the U.S. this year. Year-to-date, Audi sales have increased 6.1 percent.
Deliveries of the Q7 were up 23 percent to 3,438. The Q5 deliveries rose to 5,416, and 15 percent year-to-date. Sales of the Q3 rose 4 percent to 2,021. SUV sales for Audi increased 28 percent to 10,875.
Deliveries of the A5 Cabriolet, Coupe, and Sportback increased to 2,143 over last October, boosted by the addition of the A5 Sportback. Sales of the A5 Cabriolet and Coupe nearly doubled to 1,101.
“Our results show that in a tight market, consumers respond to design, quality and technology,” said Cian O’Brien, chief operating office, Audi of America. “These results give us confidence for the remainder of the fourth quarter and heading into 2018.”
2,143 A5 models sold in Oct '17 versus 609 in Oct '16...up 251.9%.
YTD, 16,100 A5 sold through Oct '17 versus 7,281 through Oct '16...up 121.1%.

This thing is going to take off. The A4 has a bit of a stigma that you can easily escape by moving to the A5, and, oh, you get a rear hatch, lower roofline, and a wider stance? Easy choice for many.

I mean, last fall was when they were switching over the models and nobody was buying A5's and currently they are releasing pent up demand for the new cars, doesnt really seem like this is out of the ordinary, also helps that A4/A5 is best in segment pretty easily because its the most recent refresh.

The number of Audi’s on the road are tiny compared to other manufacturers.

While I see plenty of Audi's here, I rarely see a A5/S5 and never a SB...I did see a Mythos black S5 Cabrio in Carmel yesterday while we were playing tourist, with Magma Red interior and a black top...looked stunning.
Now when we go visit SF, that's a whole nuther ball game there, there's virtually Audi's on every corner!
Regardless of sales numbers, SB's and coupes are rare sightings on the street so no need to worry too much about that.

I live in the NYC metro area and I commute 2 hrs daily each day yet I haven't seen another S5 SB. I did see an S5 Coupe a few weeks ago but that's it. In the end they are still niche cars and I doubt they will be a common sight
