G'morning all,

After owning my iPhone 5s for more than 5 yrs, I've ordered the new iPhone x to replace it.

Does anybody know of any issues synching this new model to our cars...I've got a 2014 SQ5.

Can anybody offer suggestions for a good mounting device for the iPhone x?

Had no trouble at all syncing my iPhone X to our '15 Q5 TDi or our '13 S6.

I bought a magnetic vent mount and an iPhone X case with the metal plate built-in from Amazon - works well, IMO.

No issues whatsoever on my '13 with the iPhoneX. Quite honestly, between my wife and I both being engineers in places that are or were making phones, I've had probably 30-35 different phones thru my car from Motorola, Blackberry, Samsung, and Apple. I have never had an issue with any of them over Bluetooth.

Connected thru the cable? No idea... I think I still have an old iPod classic in there...Not even sure anymore!

As far as the phone holder goes, I'm leaning towards the Pro Clip, which others here have successfully used.

Depends on the case (duh). My X charges just fine on my desk and car chargers with an Apple leather case.
Just for the heck of it, to experiment, I stuck a metal plate in there like I had on my iPhone 6 with Apple case to use with a magnetic mount - no more charging .

I don't have a wireless charger, so I don't know for certain, but no, I wouldn't expect wireless charging to work with my case. Doesn't matter to me because:
1) I don't have a wireless charger, and I don't see myself getting one any time soon
2) The convenience of the magnetic mount and the "kickstand" support ring were more important to me.

YMMV, of course.

I did see at least one magnetic-mount capable case that also allows wireless charging, but I didn't care for the case itself and it was much more expensive.

I use the Mengo car mount that goes in the CD slot which I really like. I placed the metal plate way up high near the camera lens on my S7 and the wireless charger still works.

My problem with the phone mounts that go in the CD slot is that I listen to books-on-tape regularly...and that negates the use of the CD slot.
