Audi Germany site, allows configuration and a look at the options.

(Using Chrome browser, can also translate into English by right clicking and choosing option).

The configurator is a bit of a mess at the moment, much discussion of this on the German forums. The specifications of the 55, the only version available until early next year, are interesting. This uses the EA838 3.0TFSI engine, slightly different tune from the version in the S4/S5, closer to that in the Panamera base model. What is very unusual, but won't get any traction on this forum for a year or so, is that Audi have fitted a dual sequential transmission and it is using a quattro Ultra system. The DL382 transmission fitted to B9 models cannot handle the torque of the EA837, so Audi have either resurrected the DL501 (which is unlikely as this is based around a self-locking centre differential), developed a new dual sequential transmission or are using a ZF transmission, which is what Porsche use. The current MLB Evo platform's quattro Ultra system had a 400Nm torque ceiling, so this is a new quattro Ultra system. There is a an option for Rear Axle, but no explanation as to what it is. But it requires specific suspension options to be chosen with it. The existing Sport differential does not work with quattro Ultra. Audi did receive a patent in July this year for a new torque vectoring rear differential.

So who knows just what sort of drive train you are getting? Certainly not the motoring press, but then the abilities of most motoring journalists do not go beyond minor re-writes of the press releases they are given. But Audi have made some fundamental engineering changes with the C8.

Anyone aware of or have an educated guess about expected availability date of new A7 in US?
Is Audi USA still accepting build orders for current A7 (C7 version)?

Why in the hell is this new A7 coming with a small gas tank! 63L equals only 16.4 gallons. WTF. My current 2016 A7 has 19.8 gallon tank and I need the large tank for my commute and I am not accepting a smaller gas tank... Its not going to be good filling up more. This is giving me second thoughts despite a great looking car.

Would love to add two sport version items such as Steering wheel (Flat bottomed) and chrome pedals!

Would love to see those also but the interior choices in S and RS versions get severely limited!

There is a spy shot of the new RS7 without it's camp floating on the net.
