Default 2017 A6 2.0T Gas Mileage (MPG Fuel Economy)

Just picked up a 2017 A6 2.0T with 8K miles on it. After 2 full tanks, per Fuelly tracking, I'm getting 20.5 MPG, with most miles being HWY. Seems WAY low to me, the car should be broken in for sure by now. Any others tracking mileage? what are you seeing? I'm going to the dealer to have them check it out but my fear is they will not find anything... One of the reasons for buying the car was anticipated mileage in the mid to upper 20's (blended HWY and city)...

Tire air pressre - try 40psi front and 38psi rear.

I have my 3.0L at 42F/40R. and I'm averaging 22 MPG's overall. I'm seeing 27 on the highway.

A while back Consumer Reports had an article about cars they tested with small turbo engines and hybrids missing their EPA estimates by a good margin. They found that both needed certain driving techniques to come closer to the estimates while regular gas engine cars weren't so sensitive. Their take was driving style effected mpg's by a good margin. I've seen it too, drive them a little harder than normal and mileage drops like a rock.

I drive mostly easy, and get advertised (per car computer) mileage. On highway in Texas, I get advertised 30 mpg, which is good for that speed:

I have a 16 3.0 and I can easily get 25 mpg in the city.

You've a heavy foot, IMO. I have a lead foot, and I get 25-29 MPG on the highway with the same engine.

I'm a glider, I get 24-26 in the city and 31-32 on the highway. Love the stop-start in the city.

I've gotten 32 mpg over the past 65k miles of mixed city/hwy with my older generation 2012 2.0T FWD CVT. I think it mostly comes down to driving style. I usually stay below 1700 rpm, accelerate slowly, coast a lot up to red lights instead of braking, and avoid idling. Your 20" wheels and tires may also be heavier than smaller ones causing a reduction in mpg. I believe the mpg ratings are only done with the standard 17" wheels (smallest and lightest).

Thanks... this is exactly what it feels like... on the last tank of gas I tried to be intentionally wimpish with the throttle, no idea how my wife drives it who put on most miles but she's not as aggressive as I am, and based on fuelly we got up to 22 MPG on that tank. Still woeful considering she drives a 60 mile Hwy round trip a couple times per week. I never trust the on-board computer, but I need to see what that says. All of my data is coming from Fuelly.... Many of the 3.0 owners seem to be consistently quoting BETTER fuel economy on this thread, which seems nonsensical IMO. Thanks all for the feedback, but I wonder if any 2.0T owners are experiencing what I am seeing.
