Default 245/50/18 works on 17 premium plus?

Sorry if this is a dumb question: I have a set of winter tires (245/50/R18) from my wife's BMW X3. Can I use it on my 2017 B9 Premium Plus which has 245/40/R18? Will the thickness be a problem? Thanks guys!!

That's getting far outside the comfort zone. The speedo would be off by about 5 mph at highway speeds. It'd be 2 inches taller, increasing the likelihood of rubbing.

Here's a handy-dandy tool for comparisons: https://tiresize.com/comparison/

OP should check out the winter tire thread https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-b9-platform-discussion-212/winter-tires-canadians-2906918/

I'm currently using 225/50/17
Not sure about the rubbing though - is that suppose to happen with 50? I do have the sport suspension which lowers it by 23mm

The second number is always a ratio to the first number. 225/50 is not the same as 245/50 in terms of wall height.
Also your rim diameter is smaller.
