Anyone know what type of socket I'll need to remove the caliper bolts? I wanted to change the front brake pads but discovered the mounting bolts are something I've never seen before.

check places like ECS, they will have the correct socket set you need

Looks like you need a 7 point like this but I can;t say for sure. Most of the older ones were 10 point.

I actually just picked up my car 2 days ago. Drove 5 miles from dealer to home. I had ordered ceramic pads to avoid the brake dust issue. Plan was to change the front pads while I swap out the summer tires for winter tires. That bolt head put a stop to my plans.

Now, I'm on a mission to find the proper socket for the job.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe you need to remove the calipers to change the pads. I think the design Audi uses allow pad removal from just sliding them up from the top.

Unfortunately, this caliper doesn't have the open back where the pads are held in place with pins - where the pads can slide out after pulling the pins. This one is similar to what's on the Macan S. Except the bolt holding the calliper in the Macan is a Triple Square head. I thought the Audi would be also but it's not.

You probably dont need to remove that bolt to replace the pads, on my golf R you dont remove the guide pins. They (likely) used that bolt to prevent accidental disassembly

Can anyone verify if the BRAKE CALIPER SOCKET(7-POINT,AS-22) that is mentioned in the link https://zhautotools.en.taiwantrade.c...i-1139525.html will work on a 2018 S5 Cabriolet?
