Can you post a clip? These cars do have a timing chain tensioner and guide problem. If you search for that you may find other clips with the noise and make the diagnosis yourself.

Thanks for the reply Kevin. I’ll try to video it before I start the engine, hopefully I can get this scaring sound on clip since it comes and goes away in seconds. However there is another sound coming out of engine while working and that sound is very similar to what the diesel engines usually have

Aud a6 motor sound
Thanks for the reply Kevin. I’ll try to video it before I start the engine, hopefully I can get this scaring sound on clip since it comes and goes away in seconds. However there is another sound coming out of engine while working and that sound is very similar to what the diesel engines usually have
So, finally got a chance to make a clip, however this time it didn’t sound as terrible as did couple days ago. I also was thinking that terrible sound was due to sevier freezing weather conditions, but I am not sure. Please take a look/ listen the clip and let me know if possible what it might be.

"user manual"? Are you referring to owner's manual? There are numerous specific A6 C6 related technical docs which I think I've got a ton of.
