Hello All,

I’m fairly certain that I am going to purchase an out of warranty 2014 Audi A8L 3.0 with about 30k on the odometer from what appears to be a fairly reputable non Audi used car dealer. Car seems perfect, but I want to take it to a mechanic to make sure all is well..

Does anyone think it’s important that I take it to an Audi dealer specifically or can I bring it to a regular mechanic? Audi wants $340 but says they’ll check all the computer systems and essentially do the same inspection they do for a cpo car. Mechanic from independent shop wants $80. I’m sure the dealer will know all the issues that can come up in these A8’s but I want to make sure I’m not just throwing away my money.

Also, I did find the dealership that sold the car originally; will this specific dealer have service records for this particular car if it was serviced here? In other words, any value to going to a specific Audi dealer over the one nearest the dealership?
