Does the 2018 Audi A4 have a touch screen for Android Auto
Hello,
One of the biggest reasons I want a new car is to have android auto in my next car. I want a touch screen. The A4 looks like a good car but I heard it doesn't have a touch screen in the previous model? Have they made the android auto touch screen? I know some people like the touch pad, it just isn't for me.

In my opinion... I'm really happy.
The MMI navigation is mindless once you get used to it and quite intuitive with a bunch of really neat shortcuts. You don't need to test your eye / hand coordination or take your eyes off the road to actually concentrate on the screen, just to glance over to what you're doing. For example, if I get a message on android auto, and want to do something about it, i no longer needed to take my eyes off the road if I need to navigate the menu at all because I do it with my hand...
NOW... that being said, I definitely also wanted an Android Auto experience, but I have stopped using it completely. A lot of ppl on here have said the same.
This is my set up.

No to the touch screen. The MMI **** acts like a selector in android auto and Apple CarPlay. Twisting the **** moves between clickable elements. The touchpad on the top has limited use. There is no concept of a mouse cursor or even an on screen keyboard in AA or CarPlay — voice commands for everything beyond the most basic clickable actions.
These interfaces are very minimal, so the **** works quite well (IMHO). The screen is also mounted relatively far away, so would be a bit of a stretch to touch anyway (the **** falls right at hand).
Try it out on a test drive. You can easily reset the MMI after your done.

The touch screen thing is a big talking about. There is no touch screen in the A4, but a LOT of ppl are actually extremely happy about that.

I hate touchscreens. You have to lean too far forward in order to make your selection since screens sit so high and back now as to accommodate larger screens but to each his own.
Plus fingerprints. It also doesn't really have a touchpad (well they do but that's for text input where you trace the letter or number with your finger) but its simply a ****, which is significantly easier to use, especially while driving.
Could always try Cadillac or Infiniti. Their horrid interfaces are touchscreens.
An even better option is BMW. Newer ones offer both the **** and touchscreen HOWEVER, I don't know if they support AA, I know they support CarPlay.

I have been blessed and cursed with gorilla arms so reaching the screen is no problem I think I may get a 2019 accord but I'm still narrowing it at this point. I'd like slightly more comfy seats although they are head and shoulders over the last generation accord. My old Acura is great still - I just have a itchin' for a new car.

The German car manufacturers have long resisted putting touchscreens in cars. IMHO, for good reasons. I still maintain that a touchscreen in a car is stupid, but car manufacturers seem to be caving to the smartphone crowd who think touchscreens need to be everywhere. A touchscreen requires the driver to take their eyes off the road to make sure they touch the glass in the right place as there is no tactile feedback of a physical button that you can find by touch w/o taking your eyes of the road. Porsche now has a touch screen in their latest infotainment system, so does BMW and the new A8 will be the first Audi with a touchscreen MMI, followed by the A7. I'm guessing this will trickle down to the B9 facelift or the B10.
