Default Ipod SD Card MMI

Hello all, I have just got my Audi A4 B9 last week and I love it so far. I now want to play my music and wondering what people are using.

1) Option 1- Ipod
I have tried a Classic 160GB 6th gen and a Classic 80Gb 6th gen, but they both say they are not supported. Anyone else getting the same issue? If not can you let me know which ipod model, gen and capacity you are using?

2) Option 2- D card
I have a 64GB Samsung micro SD car which I have placed into a SD Adapter. But when I copy my music over only around half the songs are present. What format does the card need to be? I assume this is the reason I am getting this issue.

Thanks!!

I have a 7th generation IPOD into which I have installed a 250GB SSD. It works fine.

Oh right, do you use a special cable for this or just the one that came with your ipod classic?

There’s a note in the owner’s manual recommending not using micro sD cards with adapters, they were concerned about vibration dislodging the micro card. In my experience, songs purchased from iTunes don’t show up on the car. I uploaded the songs from the sD card to the car’s jukebox (sans purchased songs).

I use the IPOD cable. Some people have luck with IPODs and others do not. My 7th gen works, but my wife's 5th gen does not. My car was a March 2016 build. There's a thread on it here:

Songs purchased from iTunes from a few years ago when they were copy protected will not play. All current songs purchased no longer have copy protection, they will play. If you subscribe to Apple Music there may be a way to get new copies of your copy protected songs with the copy protection removed.

Thanks for getting back to me guys.

I will look into a ipod classic 7th gen as well as a SD Card. I hwve tried placing my music onto a WD hard drive and a generic USB but always says 'not supported, What does the the file format need to be on a usb stick or hard drive to work?
