Default 6300 mile oil change?

My MMI tells me the oil change interval is 6300 miles/365 days. The included manual and the dealer says 10k miles. Can anyone comment on the discrepancy?

Are you at one year since the system was last reset? Under warranty?

No, a little over six months. I talked to the service manager and he said all MY2018 including S cars are 10k.

That's correct, 1st oil change is now 10k miles.

Have you had the car in for service already?

It was in for the radiator fan issue. The notification popped up at 6300 miles and when I reset it in the MMI it reset to 6300 again.

Then it needs to be set back to 10k mile intervals by the dealer.

In the USA, the deal is 365 days or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first if you want to maintain warranty coverage.

That is what they said they would do once I reach 10k, but they said for this first interval I will just have to remember at 10k as if they reset it to that now it will just warn me at 16300. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything because it just seemed odd to have a 6300 mile interval.

Yeah, it shouldn't. Just get in for an oil change when the car hits 10k miles, if not sooner.

Is it free of charge like the 5K service was?
