Thule Motion XT Rooftop: L or XL?
I’m new to the world of roof storage and a friend bought Thule Motion XT Rooftop XL for his new SUBARU Outback In XL and loves it.
Seems like the L will fit. Maybe the XL won’t fit?
I have the factory rails and cross bars which I assume will work as shown. Any experience with Thule and thought if XL might work?

There is weight limit. Just be careful. It is not much but cant remember the max weight limit for loading the roof.
scuba diving, spear gun, fishing rods, camping tent, slipping bags should be fine.

Barraged agreed. My only peeve is why Audi chose to have it ride so nose up. It's the crossbars of course and I can't help but think that those clever Germans did it for a valid reason.Europe actually conducts thorough safety evaluations of vehicles with their roof racks. They take it seriously. I believe Redd resolved this issue by adding some kind of polymer spacer.

I have a XL currently on my van and it is GIGANTIC. Too big for the Q5.
I like how the Alpine style fits and looks. I have the Thule Motion XT alpine on the Q5 and it is really sweet. Even a box this trim hits the hatch but you can program the hatch to not raise all the way. Lose maybe an inch of room?

Mine is the old model. The new model is even better and more streamlined. Oh and it blocks your antenna so you may have issues with Satellite Radio, Navigation, and Maps in some areas.
