Default Beep On Locking

Has anyone else had the experience where the beep is hit and miss when locking the vehicle by touching the handle? The doors lock every time, but the audible beep only occasionally.

It won't beep if one of the doors is ajar. This always happens in the rear doors, which really need a firm push to close completely.

Yup, happens once I'm a while. The programmed key seat memory also doesn't work 100%. When you switch drivers, with their dedicated and programmed key to the memory setting, the seats won't switch over.

Sometimes it works though.

My beep is consistent with locking but I've learned that it's "me" that's inconsistent in fondling the handle as to whether it unlocks or locks...

That is a very good point, I will have to pay attention next time it does not beep to ensure that the doors have locked. I do make sure that I press the recessed front part of the door handle though.

I went outside and checked by locking the doors by touching the recessed part of the driver's door handle. The doors locked and the lights flashed, but no beep. I then placed the key about 20 feet away and attempted to open the doors. They were all locked. Now if I lock the doors by pressing the remote, the car beeps every time.

Very interesting. I'm with you on this one and do not understand it.

Maybe Audi thought that no beep was necessary since you're standing right beside the car and can hear the mechanical sound of the lock. Further away you need a beep to confirm. Just pure conjecture on this.
