Right side A/C blows hot air
Hello everyone!
my 2012 Q5 is showing problems with AC:
left side works well, temperature goes below 10C measured with a thermometer.
right side blows ambient air temperature even if control is in LO (sometimes blow little cold air)
if i turn to Hi, temperature goes up on right side
is it cabin temperature right sensor? Or temperature actuator?
any help please??
Thanks
thanks!

I had a 2005 BMW X5 and was experiencing the same thing. Turns out when the system is low on refrigerant it is designed to automatically divert all cooling to the driver's vents, Had the system recharged and the issue went away.

We experienced a similar situation while traveling through Phoenix AZ last year. It was around 110 degrees F, when our AC compressor stopped and the AC starting to blow ambient air.
The local Audi dealer verified there was nothing wrong with our AC but would not say what the problem was. The issue went away when we left Phoenix.
My impression (unsupported) is that Audi has an issue. Because we passed through Phoenix and did not have similar issue, we moved on. I would have drilled down a lot if we lived in that kind of climate
good luck

Hey Sigg5. Having been through many 110+ degree days I know the AC for the SW corner of our house (3 year old unit) just can't keep up. At that temp the walls radiate heat as does anything inside where the sun got through. We let it run, close all the drapes and turn on the ceiling fan. Same situation with our vehicle. At 110 degrees just the sun coming through the glass is enough to overcome the ability of the AC to keep the inside cool. 100 and below it works fine. I know any AC has acceptable operating pressures and if it falls within range they won't add more refrigerant. And I've also heard the newer refrigerants aren't as effective as the old R-12. Glad to hear your's is now working as it should.

I had this problem on my VW Touareg. There is a gate that opens and closes to allow cold or hot air thru. It stopped working and needed replacement. It lies behind the dash, and is not easy to get to. I sold it as is, with the buyer knowing what the problem was.
I suggest you get a professional to look at it before it gets too hot out.
