Default Cost of MATTE Daytona Grey paint?

Hi everyone

I am looking to order my first Audi (S5 Sportback) in the next month or so and have a question. I was at the Chicago Auto Show yesterday and they had a RS7 in a MATTE Daytona Grey finish. As anyone ever ordered an Audi in a matte finish? What was the approximate cost?

Thanks,

Pat

If it's part of their Exclusive paint program, it's probably $3,900 additional...

At least the 3900 exclusive paint cost, but IIRC that option is around 6500-7k on the cars that have it listed.

Secondly, it will cost you in both time and money to maintain it since matte paint is extremely finicky and certain substances ruin the finish (sap, for one)

Better to go to a professional wrap place or sprayable coating installer, the newest formulations of peelable spray on coatings look just as good and are much more durable.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like it would be good on a special car like an R8, but if it's an every day car, it's not worth the price or hassle.

I do not believe there is a Matte color option for the S5. As you see here on RS7/R8's configurator -> https://www.audiusa.com/models/audi-...8/4S35BE0_2018 5S5S EI , they have a standalone option for Matte exclusive paint, which S5 does not.

$6800 for a matte finish through Audi Exclusive. However, at this time, matte paint is only available on R8 models.

A friend of mine has his black s5 cab wrapped with a 3m product that makes it look matte - came out very nice, protects the paint, and is self-healing. I believe it was around $5000-6000 though. I can find out what the actual product was if interested. I thought about it for my daytona grey coupe... still thinking about it, but now that I'm in the middle of winter I'll probably need a little paint correction before wrapping it now

You can get a professional "Dip" job (the product they use isnt even plastidip anymore, Halo EFX or the PRO plastidip formulation) for about a third of the price of vinyl and it will look just as good with more durability and easier repair.

The question is whether you have someone local who is actually good with the spray coating. I do here in Boston. http://www.eliteautocoatings.com/compare-coatings
