Won't stay in 6th (6 spd )
I just bought a 2005 a4 quatro 3.0 with a rebuilt engine with 60k miles on it and 300k on the body (extremely clean for the year )
it drives great and feels amazing , very happy so far ! But for some reason when I try to go into 6th , as soon as I start letting off the clutch , it just pops into neutral. Any ideas ?! I have noticed that if you give more throttle in first and second that the shifter kind of moves forward and back. Maybe bushings ? And help would be awesome ! I don't need the 6th gear bc the thing flies , but I do want to address the issue ! Thanks guys ! (First post , sorry if in the wrong place )

300k miles? I'd say don't go into 6th,and save your money/time for something more pressing. At 300,000 miles, there'lll always be something.
Or, grab a tranny out of a wreck where you know the miles on it. Better to pay a little more and get a free replacement warranty for say 6 months, you'll know by then if it's ok.
