My S3 came with the delete. I am not sure if I really like how loud the sound is. It is louder than my old M3 with cat delete. It also does not sound that great.

Interesting. You are the first one that I can remember stating you don't like the sound of the res delete. Hard to believe it's actually louder than your M3 also with cat delete. Are you referring to the sound inside the cabin or outside of the car?

Have you turned down / off the A7 Module (interior engine sound controller)? That would affect the interior exhaust note quite a bit. Also, I assume if no then you have the exhaust flaps operating normally? Having them unplugged will make the exhaust note louder outside of the car.

My S3 came with the resonator - I took it out. The sound is better without, IMO. It is louder though not intrusive inside the car.

Do you drive your car in automatic mode? If yes and in Dynamic setting it can definitely get loud as it holds the RPMs pretty high. I drive manually so don't encounter that unless I intentionally rev it high.

There are many opinions, both pro and con on the res deletion on other sites. The most common negative was excessive drone between 2,800-3,500 RPM which some found very annoying on freeways/motorways/autobahns.

This is a big part of why I do not like it. I noticed some drone. I would just rather have a more quiet car. It is a 4 banger. It is not supposed to sound angry.

Tell that to owners of Evos or Subie STIs. I don't think it sounds angry unless you're punching it. Btw, didn't you test drive it before purchase?
