Default 2019 S4/S5 to bring 354 hp to a 385 hp fight?

With the C43 going to 385 hp and the M430i rumoured to hit the same mark, not to mention the added competition "from below" from the Stinger and G70, the sales gains registered in MY 2018 would quickly disappear. I am no seasoned Audi watcher and have no idea how they will deal with this.

Well, that's annoying. I feel like 354 hp is the near perfect sweet spot for a car like this. Enough power where I'm faster than 90% of the cars on the road, with decent fuel economy. If I want more power I go to RS, M or AMG.

They'll probably nerf the throttle response eve more in D mode to hit fuel ratings.

The S5 has more horsepower than the spec lists, its been discussed a lot elsewhere. Audi underrates all of its cars, the HP number on the spec as BHP is basically WHP

Are you guys making purchase decisions based mainly on engine HP? Honestly that's very low on my list when it comes to choosing a car. There just isn't that much difference between 350 and 380 hp, especially when you consider all of the variables of how that HP is actually translated to the road.

If someone is shopping for a car purely based on how much HP it has then sure it might be an issue but I don't think a majority of people will do that and sometimes more HP doesn't mean better performance (0-60) or what not.

The M340i and C43 will be a step quicker - likely sub 4 seconds 0-60.

Maybe but the Stinger has 10 or so more HP and is slower than the S5 0-60 is kind of my point. You have to look at the whole package and not just the HP numbers.

Lets just recognize that HP means nothing for 0-60. HP dictates trap speeds. A combination of HP, TQ, and Traction dictate ET's

You could be right. From Car and Driver: Those in search of more get up and go can continue to opt for the Mercedes-AMG C43, which comes standard with all-wheel drive. A pair of bigger turbochargers helps the 3.0-liter V-6 produce 23 more horsepower than last year’s car. With 385 horses on tap, the C43 coupe and sedan will get to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, Mercedes says, with the cabriolet needing 4.6 ticks. We’d wager on even quicker times, as the current C43 coupe and sedan reached 60 in 4.1 seconds in our testing, while the droptop managed it in 4.3. The AMG-tuned nine-speed automatic carries over (End).

The '19 C43 is going to be a quick little machine.
