Windshield replacement
Any one have experience with replacing a 2017 Q7 windshield? Dealer says $1,000+ for windshield, $250+ for installation and $850+ for calibration. Insurance says $750 total. Wrong policy or wrong insurance company?

Insurance (Geico) covered everything, including recalibration of the DAP camera and update of the traffic sign reader sw. Only OEM glass works with the DAP, insist on that, despite what the (in my case ignorant) insurance reps say.

Same story (and prices - about $800) from our insurance company's contract glass installer (Safelite) , however main insurance (USAA) paid for OEM replacement ($1,200 windshield and $750 calibration) minus our deductible).

As far as I'm concerned comprehensive claims don't impact premiums either. I have made about 8 comprehensive claims with USAA over the last 15 years, several $4-$5K, and never saw any impact on my premiums.

Had to get a replacement on an S550 last year with HUD and all that jazz. Sounds about right. I don't know if it was an MB thing or newer windshields are all like this, but there was a 2 month wait for the replacement glass to come in.
The incident occurred in Minneapolis and a local dealer there said 2 months. Came home to Chicago and the dealer said same thing. We went to a reputable glass repair shop nearby and same thing. So we waited two months but paid a bit less. I think it was $1300 or so but we went through insurance who covered towing and a 50 mile Uber ride, which was nice.
I haven't had to deal with repairs on the Q7 yet but as others have said already, I've read that there needs to be some calibrating done with the cameras and the windshield, though I'm not sure why it's any more complicated than getting the "right" windshield for fitment and to make sure the HUD works.
