The ending link that PhanTTom provided is the way to go. Very clear instructions.

I have not bit the bullet yet, but I decided to go with the Sony XAV-AX5000

I just received my Sony XAV-AX5000 and expect my installation harness and such to arrive from enfig on Tuesday evening. I'll post when the install is complete--hopefully, sooner rather than later ;-).

As I said above, I ended up going with the Sony but read some really good things about the Dynavin during my research--Dynavin

Nice. Hope it goes well. I couldn't be happier with my Enfig products.

Got my Sony XAV-AX5000 installed on Tuesday night. Enfig harness, adapter and steering wheel control module were fairly easy to figure out using the video. Put the mic in the stock location next to the overhead light. Only real issue was disconnection of the Airbag light. In the video it appears to be pulled directly off without any tabs or anything. Mine had very small nub that i didn't see and I struggled with it for a time before I was able to see the catch. It is located on the top of the plug and needs to be pressed down with a small tool--paperclip of something. Otherwise it was a smooth process.
The stereo looks great. It is fairly basic compared to the Kenwoods, Pioneers and JVC's that I compared it with but it looks nice and the operation is very simple. Android Auto and bluetooth work well. The sound is substantially better than the stock stereo (non-Bose). Screen is very responsive. Steering Wheel controls mostly work---volume and move song/station wheels work. The voice button is not working to activate voice controls--it is doing something but still haven't figured it out. Overall, I am very happy with this stereo and the Enfig wiring. I am hoping that Sony does a software update that will allow custom background editions--the other two stereos in this line have the option. Otherwise, this is a solid upgrade.

Default Japanese Market Head Unit

I have contacted enfig and awaiting their reply however in the meantime

Post Removal

Before Removing From Car

does anybody have ANY info (Not in Japanese) for the Clarion/Audi Head Unit J8N AE2 A01 ... seems AUDI has gone waaaay out of the way to stop anybody getting anything on this unit outside Japan, in particular I would like to know what connector sockets are what on the back. I have attached a photo of my unit and would appreciate any info, need as much as possible to consider upgrade adapters.

Great Forum.

Ian
