Default Redline?

All documentation I've seen indicate that redline is 6500 rpm, yet the tachometer in my car (non-VC) shows 6000. Perhaps fuel cut off is 6500?

Can't comment on the non VC version of the tach, but on the VC version the redline will change once the car is fully warmed up.

It's fixed on the non-VC version. What's redline on yours (fully warmed up)?

I just noticed this morning that the redline changes from a cold start @ 5500 rpm to 6500 rpm once I drive a few minutes.

That is pretty neat, although I don't think I would hit even 5500 before the temperature gauge get near 200. Anyone know if the S5's temp gauge reads coolant or oil temp?

yea, I agree. The redline value changed well before the oil temp was in operating range. The S5 has a coolant gauge on the oposite side from the fuel gauge. There is also an oil temp in the virtual cockpit. It displays differently depending on your view.

I wouldn't worry about it very much. It's just a color on a gauge. They had to choose something and probably figured on a compromise between the cold limit of 5500 and the warm limit of 6500. The real redline is buried in the ECU somewhere and car's brain is never going to let you over rev the engine.

When flooring it the RPMs will exceed 7k, so the red line is not a hard limit.
