How to Open Partially Closed Hood on B9 A4?
I am in the middle of a DIY project to plastidip my B9 chrome front center grill. I prepped the front end and masked off the proper areas late this afternoon, but it was getting dark and air a bit humid.
I decided to partially close the hood and actually apply the Plastidip spray tomorrow. However, since I already removed the central plastic trim above the radiator and the corresponding actual manual hood latch release- I didn't realize that there were 2 hood latches by above/behind each headlight.
Now, I only have about 2-3 inches of clearance- how to do I actually manually release the 2 latches and get the hood open?
Mahalo in advance.

I’m sorry that that happened to you. I have no idea how to help you. Maybe shine a light in through the gap to see the thing the lever connects to and use a spanner to try and turn it? I honestly was thinking about it a few days back as to how I would open the hood latch in case a situation like this arose!

actually, I figured it out- I was able to shine a bright LED flashlight into the gap and look at the round dial where the under hood release lever would sit.
I looked at the mechanism underneath the dial and saw the hood release cable. It was relatively easy release by simply putting some light tension on the cable.
Eazy Peazy.
Hope this helps someone save some headaches in the future.
Now- trying to plastidip the entire front grill without any texture, drips, tears- that's another challenge in itself.

Totally agree. I remember when I was installing the air intake, I had to call my wife and warn her to not close the hood no matter what when she returned from work (sometimes trying to be helpful can cause more trouble).
