A5 intermittent vibration and shaking
I have a '15 A5 coupe. It currently has 38K miles and the original pirelli p7s on it. The tires still have decent tread on it. The problem is when I'm driving around 70 mph, the car will shake (annoyingly so) for about 60 seconds. Then it will go back to riding smoothly (slight vibration due to tire wear) but thats about it. Then it will start to shake again. Its a cycle that consists of periods of shaking followed by periods of smooth riding. The dealership said it was worn tires, but i would think that if that was the case, it would shake all the time. I'm thinking it may be a bad batch of gas (i always use premium), or maybe a fuel filter issue. Any thoughts would be welcomed.

Tires
Because it's speed sensitive it sounds like a tire tread separating and impending major tire blowout. Not to scare you but... a tire with tread separation can explode causing a vehicle control risk and fender damage. I've had 3 tires with tread separation... different brands with as little as 14k mileage. If you don't trust your mechanics diagnosis go to a tire store for a second opinion.

put out on a set of new tires and if it cures the problem, great. If not, exercise the tire warranty and put your old tires back on. OTOH, if you’re below 5/32 on 4 yr old tires consider new tires anyway. Yours have hardened.
