S5 SB - Hard shifts while launching
Hey everyone,
New member to Audi world. Recently got my S5 SB and passed the 1K mile mark. Went for a fun drive yesterday in AZ and tried launching the car but noticed that when it shifts from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd the car kind of winds up then jerks me back in the seat / whiplashes me as it shifts into those gears. No jerky movements with any of the other gears. I thought it might be just launch control but noticed a littler jerkyness when was was driving a little aggressive as well. Has anyone else seen this problem? Is there a problem with my transmission already? Loving this S5 just worried that something may be wrong...
Also heres a beautiful picture from yesterdays drive.
Thanks for all the help.

It normal behavior. Launch Control puts the transmission into a different "program" that shifts much harder. Super aggressive driving can also bring this out a little bit but not as much as using the launch program.

How do you know if you're using launch control rather than just torque braking? In the manual launch control is supposed to be only available in the 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, not the 8-speed Tiptronic in the S5. I still haven't tried to launch my S5 as I don't want to inadvertently torque brake and damage my transmission.

Also, it explains in the owners manual how to do it.....so shouldn't be any risk of damage. Pretty sure my manual doesn't limit to S Tronic.....

Thanks for the feedback. Hope thats true with everyone too. I'm only concerned bc I didn't really feel the real jerky shifts before the 1K mile mark.
Cheers!
