Default S5 Sportback Sunroof issue?

i am one week into my ownership of my new S5 Sportback and I have only noticed one unexplainable issue...the sunroof requires me to pull and hold the close button. It tries to close with the “one touch” function, but stays vented. When I push and hold it I can hear a pop before it closes. This can’t be normal, right? Also when you push and hold the lock button the remote the windows close but the sunroof attempts to close but then stays in the vented position. Do I have a sunroof issue?

yes, call your dealer.

Try a simple window reset. Open sunroof completely. Close the sunroof by holding close button. Once closed, release close button and then hold close button again for at least one to two seconds. See if one touch close now works.

Tried the reset. No bueno! Wouldn’t close at all after. It attempts to but then pops back up like something is blocking it. After trying a combo of visor, fully opening, only venting, etc I still couldn’t get it to close. I had to apply pressure to the glass and then it “popped” closed. Have already alerted my dealer who said they will take it in on Monday. Not a great beginning to this journey!

Just to clarify the statement “it wouldn’t close at all”....it attempts to come all the way to close but stops short of coming down to seal. Acts like it has something interfering with the glass coming down. Checked the tracks and inspected as much as I could with a light. Don’t see anything unusual or out of place. Very strange.

I had an issue like this, with my sunroof, and it had "lost registration" ?? I think that's the home location from the sounds of it. Anyhow, they did some sort of adjustment and it's ok now.

did it make a loud popping/snapping sound when it finally came to its normal sealed position (closed)?

Dealer fixed it today in a few hours. They had to remove the glass to diagnose but ultimately found a guide rod clip which had broken and was causing the glass to not seat properly. Thankfully no other repairs were necessary and I’m back in the car!
