My S4 needs brakes..
So my brake pad wear warning came on today in my B9 S4.
The car is leased and Audi wants $800 to do my rears and $1,200 to do my fronts. My question is, do I have to replace the rotors and pads with OEM equipment? If I opt to go aftermarket, I will most likely be using OEM pads and aftermarket rotors.. Will this suffice for my lease return in 2 years?
Also, I'm approaching my 20K mile service, Audi quoted me $750. Can I have this service performed by my mechanic? Obviously using OEM fluids etc...
This is my first Audi lease, and I am not familiar with their practices.. I have had BMW's in the past and never death with stuff like this...
Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

The 20k mile service looks like nothing but an oil change, pollen filter ($20 DIY), brake fluid change, and a bunch of worthless checks that the dealer will skip. You could probably get the oil change and brake fluid change done for no more than $200-250 at an indy shop. Honestly, $750 for that service seems like robbery.

I had the pads replaced at 17k miles. The dealer wanted to do rotors too for $2300 all in. I have a supplemental service contract that covers brakes that cost $900 when I bought the car. It took two days but the dealer honored the contract (the dealer where I bought the car was bought by another dealer group). Once they agreed to honor the contract, suddenly I didn’t need rotors.
I have since done some research. You can get the front pads online for $175 per and the rears for $75 per. Rotors are $100 per front and I can’t recall for the rear. Add a few hours of labor, and I still can’t get anywhere near $2300 even with SoCal labor rates.

Did you replace all 4 pads and leave your rotors with 17k on them? How are they holding up any squeaks or weird noises?

Is it expected for the brakes to wear so quickly in this car that replacement is needed in less than 20k miles? That seems rather extreme.
