My understanding of Japanese is poor, but this guy reviewed a short wheel base Audi 4.0L gas engine. Cool!

Yeah, TFSI 60 equates to the larger displacement/higher power output engines like the 4.0T variants. I think North American spec cars keep the old naming scheme—at least that’s what was reported a while ago. I noticed from the video that the Sport Exterior Package on the car had fake exhaust ports with the actual exhaust tips underneath the bumper—-Bahhh!!! Disappointing, really disappointing.

I test drove a Panamera 4 with the same single turbo six gasoline engine that comes as the base V6 on the A8. It was OK, but lacking IMO compared to the twin turbo 4.0T V8. Lacking in acceleration, less available acceleration the upper power band, and certainly not as smooth as the V8.
With Porsche taking over V8 development for the entire VW Group, I’d venture that they were ironing out some production logistics issues (even though the 4.0 V8 remains essentially the original Audi-designed motor). With the Porsche GTS (4.0T V8) now released, one could surmise that whatever Audi to Porsche production logistics problems held up this engine for the D5 launch are now being cleared up. At least, that’s my guess. Still, a very mucked up D-segment new vehicle launch for Audi. Really dumb.
