Default No grease in control arm rubber boots

Shouldn't there be some grease in these things? This is how they came and I put them on like this but it just bothers me because it can't be optimal for these to be flat like this with no grease. There are no grease fittings on them. What gives?? Thanks.

What do you mean? Grease inside or outside? Unless I'm mistaken, these are bushings and grease has nothing to do here.

Kelisko, I'm talking about inside of the rubber boots that I circled in this picture. Thanks.

They are " factory sealed" ball joints...no greese fitting...whatever they thought is enough...they packed that much..they would last longer if they had greese fittings...but hey..lets grow german economy...at buyers expense..

+1, these are just sealed and when they crack you replace them. There's no grease to look for other than the CV boot...which I need to replace this month. Darn another thing to do in November

Last fall on my 01 A6, I put in a set of control arms that were given to me They had sat in a box for years. They squeaked enough to be annoying. I didn't know if bushings or ball joints. Squirted soapy water on bushings...still squeaked. I was considering adding Zerk fittings to ball joints, but would have had to pull suspension apart again to access all 4 joints. Picked up a grease needle and injected grease into ball joints rubber boots. Got lucky for a change, no squeaks after a year. Needles that they sell for this make a tiny hole and grease doesn't seep out. I have a hunch that joints will last longer with a good shot of grease. At least it restored new/old stock ball joints for me.

Great idea. I'm sure the needle has to be very thin. With it being that thin it must be pretty hard to squirt the grease into the boot through it. Guess it depends on the device that is being used to inject the grease.
