Default Car Wash

Hello!

Does putting your Q5 through a car wash machine damage the car or the paint at all? I kmow hand wash is probably the best but just seeing all options.

Also, how often do ylu wash your Q5?

Thanks!

If you are referring to the conveyor belt car washes with soft cloths... they certainly aren't GOOD for the car's finish. But I lease and am not going to hand wash, particularly during a midwest winter. I garage my vehicles and the paint always seems great shape at lease turn in (3 years).

Touchless washes are likely "better" for the finish but don't do as good a job cleaning the vehicle.

If you plan on owning and are OCD, then definitely hand wash. I own a 2011 BMW M3 that's stored in the winter and doesn't see the inside of an automated car wash during the good weather months.

Touchless are so horrible for all plastics/rubbers and don’t get all the crap off ultimately.

I have an "all you can eat" membership at a hand car wash. Pay once a year, get to go as much as I want. They do it all, in and out. I go every 5 days.

I stay away from all car washes. A hand car wash is best.

You will get scratches and swirls using a car wash...FACT! The darker the colour the more it shows. The people who say not, have not looked carefully at their paint.

Take it to a car wash. Then get it detailed a couple times a year for any subtle swirls.

That seems like the best option.

Not in the UK it is not! Costs around £450.00 minimum to detail and remove swirls.
